Enough About Me, Go Check This Out . . . .

Tony made a comment the other day about how he likes reading me when I'm "on", well today folks, Tony is the one that's "on". He's so "on" that it most definitely isn't funny. I've said before that if you happened to see Tony and I walking down the street in opposite directions, you'd probably be surprised if we passed each other without spitting, we just outwardly appear to be from that vastly different worlds, and we are from different worlds, yet somehow we both wound up on the same friggin planet now by golly. I think it's a beautiful thing in America when a hippie and a redneck can outright agree on so much, and when it comes to his latest post at Asshats, I couldn't agree with him more. I'd sit around the campfire and play guitar with this guy any day, well, I would if I could play a guitar anyway.

I tried to figure out what Tony was trying to say....was he saying the Government just started spying on us?....boy how naive can people be, the government spying on us...what would make them do a thing like that???...got me....ah shit.... I bet this kind of thing has been going on forever...what do you folks think....the Kennedys were great at it back in their days

Nixon, Carter, Reagan, Clinton and the rest of the boys were no slackers when it came to spying or wire tapping, and now all of a sudden everyone is up in arms because ole' GW wanted to give it a try....go friggen figure....let a democrat back in office and the table will turn the other way, the Republicans will be pissed and the damn Democats will say what is wrong with that...just another day in American politics....if that is what it takes to catch these dirty little rats that want to blow us up.....oh well.....shit happens....

Well Drifter, we definitely agree on one thing, this crap didn't start yesterday. The difference is however, like most politicians do sooner or later, GW got a little too brash about his spying, and the simple fact that it's been elevated to entirely new levels. Kennedy, Nixon (who got his tit in a very large ringer over spying as well), Carter, Reagan, even good ol' Slick Willy, had nothing like GW in the way of gadgets and toys at their disposal. I have friends in the military that were telling me about surveilance gizmos years before their existence was announced to the public. I won't name names because people could get in trouble, but I remember sitting around laughing about an article in a magazine with a friend of mine in which an official blatantly denied the existence of some surveilance technology that my friend had just been telling me about a week before, he'd been working with the stuff in Bosnia, but it didn't exist. . . hmmmm. This was almost ten years ago, I can't even immagine the kind of shit they've got now. Having a lunatic like GW, or Hillary Clinton for that matter, running loose with this stuff scares the hell out of me. I don't draw the lines along party rhetoric, if I've said it once I've said it a million times, they're all crooks. That doesn't mean that we have to sit back and take it.

As far as catching the dirty rats that would blow us up, if we sacrifice our Constitutional rights in fear of these lunatics, they've already won. I'm not willing to give up freedom for security, I provide my own security, I don't need a nanny state to protect me, and I know you don't either.

"Carter, Reagan, even good ol' Slick Willy, had nothing like GW in the way of gadgets and toys at their disposal. I have friends in the military that were telling me about surveilance gizmos (yea and we all have friends in high places)years before their existence was announced to the public".

Justin the keyword here is years, hopefully you are catching my drift, GW hasn't been in office for years, just 5, now do you think that Slick and some of the other boys had the same technology, slick had the cruise missles and everything GW has...correct...so do not try and shuck and jive me that this technology was given to Bush...that is Hogwash...you know it...I know it...Nixon wasn't spying on the American people he was just spying on the Demorats.....It would be guys like you ...that would cry the loudest and the longest if there was another attack in this country...first thing out of your mouth would be that god damn Bush did not do enough to protect us...and you know that is the truth...you guys sit around and bull-shit yourself every minute and every hour of the day....

First of all Drifter, my point was, that if the surveilance devices available ten years ago were as capable as they were at that time, the ones they have now are no doubt far more capable, and the ones they have ten years from now will be even more capable yet. Unless we want the government seeing and hearing EVERYTHING that we do as if they don't already, we need to check this shit now, before it gets any more out of hand. I'm not disputing that this shit's been going on for a long time, I'm just saying that the longer it goes on the worse it gets. This government is out of hand, has been for a long time, and has just crossed the line from corrupt to downright dangerous, all on the watch of GW, very much so with his encouragement. Does the name "Thought Police" mean anything to you? Have you ever read 1984? Maybe you should, it's happening, even if it's a few years later than Orwell predicted. I didn't fancy you as a government sympathizer, I figured you were a bit more of a rebel I guess. As far as the friends in high places comment, come on Drifter, you were in the goddam military. You know fucking well that they have shit that they don't tell the public about. One of my best friends is a Vietnam Vet, he's told me about all kinds of shit they had even back then that people at home didn't have a damn clue about until years later. These drone aircraft that we just started hearing about in the last five years or so? My friends in the Marine Corps were telling me about them and some that make the ones on the news look like childs toys ten fucking years ago. A week after they were telling me about them I read in a magazine where there's some contest going on with college engineering students competing to design shit like this for the government. Right in the goddam article some talking head Pentagon propaganda monkey says that they need the work of these college kids because the government has nothing like these unmanned surveilance craft that these kids were designing. My friend and I laughed our asses off at it. I understand that weapon systems need to be kept secret for security reasons, but using these weapons against an outside enemy and using them against American citizens on American soil is two entirely different things. Big fucking difference.

"It would be guys like you ...that would cry the loudest and the longest if there was another attack in this country...first thing out of your mouth would be that god damn Bush did not do enough to protect us...and you know that is the truth...you guys sit around and bull-shit yourself every minute and every hour of the day...."

Watch that shit buddy, I'll give you this one as a freebie, I won't again. I didn't cry about the government not doing enough last time, and I wouldn't if it happened again I don't give a shit which side of the fence has their lieing assed figure head in office. As a matter of fact when those buildings were falling on live TV I was grumbling loudly about how many fucking laws were going to get passed because of it, I saw the patriot act or something similar coming before the goddam dust even settled and didn't like what I saw, so don't act like I'm some pussy assed "need the G man to save me" motherfucker. I provide my own security, the government version comes with too many stipulations. I can't speak for everyone, especially the Democrats, but I thought you knew ME better than that. I don't follow party lines, and I don't see things in black and white, most issues aren't that simple. The world and its issues is a million shades of grey, just because I agree with the left on some things doesn't mean I'm ready to join the ranks, but one thing we happen to have in common right now is the belief that Bush is dangerous. I'm not saying Hillary Clinton is any less dangerous for sure, but Bush is in office right now, he's the one throwing the switches, and I don't think he's taking his responsibility very seriously.

Antie Pinko got it right.

Justin, for what it's worth, keep one thing in mind about Dixie Drifter; at least he's talking about what he thinks. If you were to post over at Republican Vet with anything he didn't agree with, he would simply 'moderate' (dismiss) your comment and probably denounce you as what he calls a 'libertard.'

Justin said...

Auntie Pinko definitely did have some good points. I wonder how many "liberals" will tear her a new one just like they did me for saying basically the same thing. I doubt any of them will. I could practically sue her for plaigerism, yet I get the third degree, go figure. I don't agree with some of her points, like the whole stolen gun thing. That's a big "wedge issue" for me, if somebody steals my gun, prosecute them, theft is a crime. Don't punish me because I was a victim of a goddam crime. I can't refer to that kind of logic as anything less than bullshit, but I did like what she had to say overall. It's a far cry more moderate than what I'm used to hearing on the issue.

The Drifter is an alright guy, I don't care what anybody else thinks of him, he got my dander up a little for sure by making generalizations about me, but everyone knows that I've been guilty of the same thing. I have no room to talk when it comes to that.

Now for my daily rant, then I'll go to bed and the world will be safer for it.

There's very few issues that I won't bend on if I'm shown enough evidence to the contrary of my views. When it comes to gun control, I've seen it all, all the evidence, all the statistics, all the "facts", and what it all comes down to is bad people using a tool to do bad things, and stupid people blaming the tool instead of the criminal. I could kill someone with a car, (more people are killed in car accidents than with guns by far), I could kill someone with a baseball bat, I could kill someone with a knife, I could kill someone with a golf club, I could kill someone with a sharp stick and if I did, no one would blame anybody or anything except me. But if I go out and STEAL a fucking gun and kill somebody, all of a sudden we need more gun control and the legitimate owner of the gun is somehow responsible because he didn't have it locked in a 4 foot thick concrete and steel vault 15 stories underground with a state of the art surveilance system and 24 hour a day security staff. Stealing the gun was already illegal, I obviously didn't care, but for some reason, some people think I'd care if there were just ONE more law in my way. Horse manure.

I don't care if he left a full automatic AR-15 laying on his goddam front porch with a loaded fifty round mag locked in and a round in the chamber, safety off. Irresponsible? Damn right it is but if somebody steals the son of a bitch, it's not the owner's fault, he was still the victim of a crime. Punish the goddam criminal, not the victim. It makes me have all kinds of faith in our government (~sarcasm~) when I'm told that I'm supposed to just accept the fact that if somebody steals my property and uses it to commit a crime, that I'm the one that's going to be in trouble if it happens to be MY goddam gun that I bought legally and payed for with my own money. Funny how that rule wouldn't apply to somebody who, say, has their car stolen. What's next, somebody robs a fucking cash register and some of the money gets spent on drugs, then gets traced back to the last guy that spent it at the store, and he's in trouble for contributing to the drug trade? Where the hell does this crap end? Fuck the safety Nazis, I'm sick of it, if anyone needs a goddam nanny, go hire one, I don't need one. I'll discuss almost any issue and try like hell to remain objective and take everyone's views into account, I guess when it comes to gun control I'm just a pig headed right wing asshat, call me what you want, I don't bend on this one. At least no one can accuse me of not standing up for what I believe in. What part of "shall not be abridged" does no one understand?

But overall, I like what Auntie Pinko had to say, except the part about stolen guns. But I think you get that idea already. ;)
